Ride Notes

First DIY of the new season - a trip to Berkeley using some of the Jack & Grace route.

Day started cold, but bright and fair with a slight N-Easterly and the ride to Ashton Court was great, apart from dodging the school run traffic in places. Looped around Clifton and out into the flatlands of the Severn Vale. I ’thought’ Berkeley (the planned first stop) was around 80km - turns out it was 93km - doh! Cafe stop (Perfect Blend) was great, though, and then I headed back towards the cycle path and Keynsham.

Second stop at Moondance Cafe in Chew Magna - new to me and well worth a visit if you haven’t been there before…. I got very confortable in the afternoon sun and it was a struggle to head out again.

Final climb over the Mendips to Shepton was COLD - the blast to Wells was my reward! I was glad to be on familiar roads as I headed home and the sunset over the levels at the top of Snake Lane was amazing but I was too cold and tired to stop and capture it.

Good day out - but very slow this month.
